EASTLIB, the Listserv for East Asian Librarians
This page was last updated on December 16, 2008

The listserv most East Asian librarians read in North America is EASTLIB.   This listserv is co-moderated by Mr. Wooseob Jeong and Ms. Hsi-chu Bolick.

Subscribing to the "Eastlib" Listserv

Since EASTLIB is a "closed" listserv, you cannot subscribe on your own.  EASTLIB is closed in order to block unwanted "spam" messages from outsiders.  Only EASTLIB subscribers can post and receive messages on EASTLIB.

To subscribe, please send email to Dr. Wooseob Jeong, and include your name and affiliation.

Using The Web-based Control Center for EASTLIB

Since the end of 1999, EASTLIB has used a new listserv program called "LYRIS."  The EASTLIB Listserv on LYRIS is located at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  LYRIS is a web-based listserv program.  It allows users to post messages, read messages (including the entire archive of EASTLIB messages since January 1995), search messages, change membership settings (such as the LYRIS password), and even unsubscribe to EASTLIB, all via their web browser.

To get started with web-based EASTLIB do the following:
