Welcome
and Introduction – Mary Lin, Chair of CTP
(
On behalf of the Committee on Technical Processing, I would like to welcome all of you in this room to our annual meeting. The CTP has another busy year. It has just held a second workshop these past 2 days, thanks to the strong support of the local sponsor the Emory University and the hard work of CTP members Setsuko Noguchi, Keiko Suzuki and Joy Kim. In March 2005, I listed in my statement for the election campaign several items which I thought the committee should address in order to impact the future technical processing. In the past three years, the Committee members have either run in the foreground or supported behind the scene, spending their time and energy to work on and complete many projects and programs. I would like to express my sincere appreciation for their hard work and support (all members please stand up and receive the applause) I would also like to express my personal heartfelt thanks to Hideyuki Morimoto and Abraham Yu for generously sharing with me their ideas and invaluable experiences. I have learned a lot from them. Thank you very much, Abraham and Hideyuki. This annual meeting, again, will focus on the prospect of all aspects of technical processing in the East Asian Library for the future. This annual meeting we have invited two very special guests who have strong professional knowledge and experiences in the subjects to give us a presentation. I believe everyone can benefit from listening to their presentations. Again, thank you for attending this annual meeting. Because our time is limited, please hold all the questions you might have until the end of the meeting, when we have 15 minutes for all questions.
