Senior Sub-Librarian (carrying the job title of \u2018Associate University Librarian\u2019) – (250000VC)<\/p>\n
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Library, a leading research library in East Asia, invites applications for a dynamic, experienced academic librarian to play a leading role in the development of the Library\u2019s digital services and innovation.<\/p>\n
Reporting to the University Librarian, the appointee will be responsible for:<\/p>\n
(a) contributing as a member of the Library\u2019s Senior Management team to Library-wide strategic direction, planning and budget allocation and to all initiatives that advance the Library;<\/p>\n
(b) developing a strategic plan for the Library\u2019s digital presence and activity, ensuring the IT infrastructure, the integrated library system and library\u2019s technologies support the Library\u2019s mission and strategic plan;<\/p>\n
(c) advising the University Librarian on developments in digital services and innovation and representing the Library on internal and external committees, working groups, etc.;<\/p>\n
(d) leading and managing a team of professional and support staff particularly in Library IT and Digital Initiatives;<\/p>\n
(e) leading inter-departmental projects and advising on the development and implementation of standards for digital services; and<\/p>\n
(f) any other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n
(i) a good degree plus a postgraduate qualification in librarianship or information science, or equivalent;<\/p>\n
(ii) substantial, at least ten years, recent experience of working at a senior level in an academic library, including at least five years at a managerial level;<\/p>\n
(iii) excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team leadership and change management experience;<\/p>\n
(iv) proven ability to work collaboratively and influence senior academics and managers;<\/p>\n
(v) experience of managing multiple, complex projects;<\/p>\n
(vi) strong understanding of contemporary changes in research libraries and key developments in research, learning and teaching within higher education; and<\/p>\n
(vii) evidence of applying strategic thinking, vision and analytical skill to achieve measurable, high quality operational outcomes. Proficiency in both English and Chinese is desirable.<\/p>\n
Appointment will initially be made on a contract basis for up to three years with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to mutual agreement.<\/p>\n
