OCLC-CJK Toolkit

                                                                                                    

Task Force: Keiko (Japanese), Erica (Korean) and Charlene (Chinese)

I.Background

This toolkit attempts to utilize the features and functions fully to expedite the processing of CJK materials in Connexion.  In addition to existing features, sharing customized macros with a larger community would be one of our goals as well.

II.        Categories

1)Cataloging tools

a.Connexion client Macros (with short-cut key-map or toolbar)

i.Customized cataloging macros:

1.Converting series from 440 to 490/830 for parallel fields with non-Roman scripts (file to copy)

c.Control headings

i.Series added entries with numbering

1.Select the 830 and run the control headings function

2.Select and cut “$v <vol. number>”  [leave out the semicolon preceding the $v and the period following the number]

3.Click Match Best

4.Click Modify Heading

5.Paste the “$v <vol. number>

6.Click Modify Heading

7.Click Insert Heading <the software will supply the semicolon and end punctuation>
