According to article III. A. of the
, a CEAL member is “...an Association for Asian Studies member who pays CEAL membership dues.”
Confirming Your Current Membership Status
Only CEAL members are eligible to vote on CEAL issues, run for elected offices, or be nominated for appointed positions.
To be a CEAL member, you must:
- ...be a current member of AAS (Current AAS members may login at the
AAS website, here)
- ...be current in your annual $30 CEAL membership dues
How to Confirm Your CEAL Membership Status:
Joining CEAL is a 2-step process:
Step 1) Join/Renew AAS
Before submitting the CEAL membership application form, please join
or renew your membership in the Association
for Asian Studies(AAS).
Please make a note of your AAS member number, as you need to put this number on the application form and your check.
This is very important. If you are not a valid AAS member,
your CEAL membership application WILL NOT be processed.
Step 2) Submit the CEAL Membership Application Form and Dues
Print out the CEAL
Membership Application form (
Editable Word version of the form), and fill it in.
Write a check or
money order for thirty dollars ($30), payable to "The Association
for Asian Studies Inc."
write your AAS membership number on the upper right corner of the check.
For credit card payments, please add a $2 credit card service fee to your payment amount
(Total: $32), and provide your credit card information in the form.
Mail your completed application form to:

Online Credit Card Payment
Go to the AAS Committee Payments Page:
Enter the total ($32) in the box labeled "Council on East Asian Libraries (CEAL)"
(Includes the required $2 credit card service fee.)
Click the "Submit Payments - Donations" button at the bottom of the page.
Then, Email the following:
1) A Copy of the Completed Application Form, and
2) Your Online Payment Confirmation Page
