    • Recommendation letter to the National Institute of Japanese Literature (NIJL) on the “Pre-Modern Japanese Book Database"

In February of 2016, CJM called for volunteer reviewers to give feedback on the “Pre-Modern Japanese Book Database” released by the National Institute of Japanese Literature (NIJL). This database was a beta version but would serve as the core to NIJL’s “Project to Build an International Collaborative for Pre-modern Japanese Texts.” Recognizing the importance of this project, prior to the CEAL’s 2016 Conference in Seattle, CJM and the North American Coordinating Council on Japanese Library Resources (NCC) jointly hosted a meeting and invited Professor Yamamoto Kazuaki at NIJL. Based on this meeting and further discussion, we issued an open letter of recommendations which 29 Japanese/East Asian Studies librarians signed. The letter was submitted to the NIJL in May 2016.
