Position Summary: The Chinese Language Metadata Specialist has primary responsibility for original and complex enhance cataloging of Chinese language materials in all subject areas and all formats (print, electronic, and digital, as well as audio and video resources). This position will assign metadata and controlled subject terms for Chinese language digital library collections and exhibits, plan and implement projects involving data analysis and manipulation, explore and determine the most effective strategies and apply batch techniques when applicable. This position is also responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the UC San Diego Library online catalogs for Chinese and other languages by performing data maintenance on bibliographic, holdings, item, and authority records, managing outsourcing projects, and supervising student assistants.
