University of Cambridge: Project Cataloguer (Part Time, Fixed Term)

As part of the WongAvery East Asian Collections Collaboration between Cambridge University Libraries (CUL) and University of California San Diego Library (UCSD), we would like to recruit a part-time, two-year fixed term Project Cataloguer, at 0.5 FTE, to carry out the cataloguing and metadata work required in the formation of the Sally T WongAvery Digital Collection of Chinese Materials. The Chinese Section is one of four within the current African and Asian Collections group, within a new Department of World Collections.

This position will assign metadata and controlled subject terms for selected rare, unique and distinctive Chinese language items in various format for Cambridge Digital Library collections, and for online catalogue if necessary. This involves researching and summarising the manuscripts or rare books’ physical description, textual contents and provenance.

Reporting to Head of Chinese Section, they will work closely with the project team including Cambridge Digital Library, Digital Content Unit, Department of Conservation and the Project Support Office, to make sure that progress on the wider partnership continues at an appropriate pace, and to provide regular updates to key stakeholders. They will also be responsible for using TEI or Excel sheet for TEI for digital library. They will also collaborate in the planning and delivery of the project’s outreach and dissemination activities such as an online exhibition.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
