It is my great pleasure to share with you the publication of a 2-volume new book with contributions from 15 CEAL members and edited by CEAL members Shi Deng (UC San Diego) and Susan Xue (UC Berkeley) along with Ms. Xiao Long and Ms. Xiaoxia Yao of Peking University Library.

This new book, edited by Long Xiao, Xiaoxia Yao, Susan Xue, and Shi Deng, was an output of an international collaboration project between members of Council on East Asian Libraries (CEAL) and China Academic and Library Information System (CALIS)/Digital Resource Acquisition Alliance of Chinese Academic Libraries (DRAA), 2016-2021.
This project, initiated and led by Bie-hwa Ma, the inaugural co-chair of the CEAL Task Force on Electronic Resources Metadata Standards and Best Practices (ERMB), in collaboration with Professor Long Xiao, Professor Xiaoxia Yao from CALIS/DRAA, and Xiuying Zou of CEAL ERMB, comprises a dedicated team of over 30 volunteers from both CEAL and CALIS. Collectively, they have accomplished the translation of 13 NISO standards and recommended practices into Chinese. Their efforts aim to introduce and promote American electronic resource standards and best practices in China. In addition, they conducted comprehensive research to survey the landscape in both China and North America, focusing on the formulation of standards and best practices while addressing challenges to enhance user experiences.
